Masaru, or Number 27, is another member of the Espers. He took part on the experiments that granted him psychic powers while leaving him physically frail and aged.
Masaru is wise beyond his years, calm, and rational. Despite his physical limitations, he possesses a strong will and a deep understanding of the consequences of psychic power. Masaru will try to prevent Tetsuo from repeating the destruction caused by Akira, and his interactions with the other Espers are crucial to the story’s resolution.
