Kaisuke or Kai is a peripheral figure in Kaneda’s “Capsules” gang, ranking as the second-youngest member, just ahead of Tetsuo. His part in the anime film is secondary and limited. By the film’s conclusion, he is counted among the handful of characters who survive and is likely one of the few remaining inhabitants of Neo-Tokyo.
Kaisuke seems to serve as the group’s mechanic. This is evidenced by the scene where he attempts to recharge a laser rifle’s battery by attaching jumper cables to a live motorcycle engine. While he shares the gang’s general disregard for authority figures, he also demonstrates a notable level of responsibility and loyalty toward others.
